Mountain BikeDistance: 80kmFormat: Point to PointWater Point: WP117km (Supporter Point 1) WP246km WP362km (Supporter Point 2) WP4Transition to run at La Roche Wine EstateFranschhoek provides some of the most beautiful mountain biking in theCape with varied terrain that will both delight and challenge the participants.Designed by Geddan Ruddock the mountain bike route has been divided into three legs and includes a combination of district roads, farm tracks, forestry jeep tracks and single tracks. The emphasis in the course layout hasbeen placed on testing the athletes endurance capability but some technical sections will test the participants ability to handle a mountain bike and as such, basic mountain bike skills are a must for the Enduroman® South Africa. The routes will see riders traversing the length and breadth of the FranshhoekValley and taking on climbs up Matoppie and Dassenberg before headingback to La Roche Estate and the transition to the run.Riders will receive event based support at water points along each of the bike legs and in addition to this will be able to gain support from their own crews at two points along the route, with no support allowed to be given to the riders outside these areas. Please ensure that support crews are made aware of the support points, and the routes they are to follow to each ofthese places. Enduroman® South Africa has been fortunate to gain the support of theFranschhoek Wine Valley and in so doing has allowed Geddan Ruddock to design a course that will take participants onto privately owned land andinto areas normally closed to the public leading to a ride that is as originalas it is going to be challenging. For your convenience we have constructed the following maps, includingan overview of the entire mountain bike route and separate maps of eachof the legs that we hope will assist you with your planning.
